Automotive techs, are you ready for a change in Careers?

I’m Antone Hempstock — formerly known as Anton “Andy” Dabbs — an ASE Certified Master Technician with 17 years of experience under the hood and the founder of Lemon Squad Auto Inspections, a multimillion-dollar company that changed the way people buy used cars.

Before creating Lemon Squad, I spent years inspecting vehicles for other companies while working as a technician at a Honda dealership, specializing in warranty claims. Those inspections were more than just side work — they were a turning point. They combined everything I loved about the trade with a level of independence and financial freedom I never thought possible. That’s when I realized: the inspection industry wasn’t just a career move — it was a revolution waiting to happen.

Why I Made the Shift

The truth is, being a technician is hard work — physically, financially, and mentally. The long hours, heavy lifting, and relentless flat-rate pressure wear you down. Wages stagnate, tool costs rise, and the career you once loved starts feeling like survival.

I made the transition to inspections because I saw a better path — one where your experience still matters, but your back doesn’t have to pay the price. The inspection world offers autonomy, flexibility, and the ability to grow beyond the shop floor while staying connected to the automotive industry you love.

Why Many Technicians Don’t — and Why You Can

Most techs stay put because they don’t see an alternative. Their skills feel too specific, their comfort zone too familiar. But that’s exactly why I help people bridge that gap — to show them that their knowledge, discipline, and precision can evolve into something bigger.

In the inspection industry, extended warranty companies and automotive platforms rely on independent inspectors to verify claims and assess vehicles. You can work for inspection firms, build your own client network, and create a career that runs on your schedule — not a time clock.

Take the Next Step

If you’ve ever thought about breaking free from the flat-rate grind, now is the time. I’ve helped countless technicians make the transition into inspection work, building flexible, rewarding, and sustainable careers.
